The 15 best anime like konosuba list are based on my anime list rating and my personal anime recommendation.

15. Ixion Saga DT

Ixion Saga DT

  • MAL Rating: 7.20
  • Writer: Akatsuki Yamatoya
  • Director: Shinji Takamatsu
  • Where to watch: Crunchyroll

With regards to entertainment and amusing dimensional exchanges to game-like universes, Ixion Saga DT is an ideal match with KonoSuba.

Kon Hokaze was only a normal gamer (similar to every other person) when one day, he gets Isekaied to a different universe. The world is known as Mora and it is loaded with puzzling energy called Alma. However, that is not the point! The fact of the matter is Kon is stuck in a world he doesn’t have the foggiest idea and is constrained to join a band of mavericks to cross the way destiny has for them.

This show is comical to a ball-destroying level (and I imply that in a real sense for the show.) Ixion Saga DT is a show that never appears to run out of contrivances and amusing minutes.

2. Overlord

Overlord 3

  • MAL Rating: 7.94
  • Writer: Satoshi Oshio
  • Director: Naoyuki Ito
  • Where to watch: Netflix, Hulu, and Crunchyroll

The most captivating ‘stuck in a game’ story I’ve seen so far, and I’ve seen quite a few. I simply can’t find anything to fault in this anime. The protagonist finds himself in a new world – and a new, undead body. He brings with himself his sensibilities from his own life but finds he no longer actually feels the moral compulsions of his previous human self, making his character an interesting mix of ruthless and mindful.

There’s a strong focus on exploring a new and hostile world and finding the differences between the world’s “systems” and what the protagonist is used to. On the other hand, he doesn’t start weak and has to level/power up to, but instead arrives as a supreme being defying the laws of the world. That’s a unique angle I don’t remember seeing before in this kind of series.

1. Gintama

  • MAL Rating: 8.94
  • Writer: Hideaki Sorachi
  • Director:  Shinji Takamatsu
  • Where to watch: Crunchyroll

Gintama is a story of a handyman named Gintoki, a samurai with no respect for rules set by the invaders, who are ready to take any job to survive. He and his gang, however, are also among the very few who have not forgotten the morale of a swordsman. Wherever they go, all they do is create troubles.

Actually, even though it takes a lot of time to develop there really is a story on Gintama. It takes a lot of time to get the plot moving but once it starts it gets seriously epic. There are strings of serious arcs with great action and out-of-the-world comedy.

Moreover, the antagonists keep changing and the character development is awesome and even the side characters get a lot of screen time and development. So as the episodes increase it becomes a highly intertwined plot and you just can’t stop watching but you have to be patient but once you are booked you will seriously love it.
